KORII

Toa of Fire

Once a Ta-Matoran Guard stationed in New Atero, a chance encounter with an enigmatic stranger would change Korii's life forever. He would return home that day a Matoran and wake up a Toa, seemingly the first in millennia. After his transformation, he occasionally hears a female's voice in his head, cryptically guiding him towards some unknown goal.

Korii is considered to be brash, headstrong and impulsive - even for a Ta-Matoran's temperament - and often lands himself into trouble by charging headfirst into a situation with no plan whatsoever. His lack of patience should not be mistaken with a lack of strategy, however; he is adept at improvising plans on the fly while already stuck into a situation, often fooling opponents into thinking he had a plan all along rather than making it all up as he goes.

For all his impatience and ultimately risky behaviour, Korii places the safety of others above all else. His silver mask is riddled with damage from back in the Matoran Universe, from a past event he doesn't like to talk about, and will often willingly endanger himself to save anyone else from harm. He also has a deep curiosity of the organic natives, being fascinated by the differences in their life cycles from his own.

Korii currently wears a battered Kanohi Kakama, the Great Mask of Speed. He also carries a Kanohi Nuronu, the Great Mask of Instinct, which was given to him by Hopu. He was empty-handed when transformed, so at present has no Toa Tools at his disposal.

DEKANA

Toa of Stone

While most Po-Matoran continued their old trades of sculpting or building after evacuating Spherus Magna, Dekana actively embraced his newfound freedom. Once a student at the Valley of the Maze under Turaga Nuparu, Dekana developed a keen understanding of complex engineering and physics, eventually using this knowledge to become a respected blacksmith. His work was of exceptional quality and saw use by Glatorian fighters, city guards and many more across the world. His renown became such that he often travelled the world to sell his wares, and would even be invited to Tajun to repair Turaga Gali's badge of office. This fateful trip led to himself and a Ga-Matoran named Tikamo becoming Toa, and being dispatched by the Turaga to seek out the wanderer that caused their transformation.

An overall polite and courteous Matoran, Dekana's burning passion for his craft was plainly obvious to anybody that met him. Such were his manners that he made a point of bringing his own tools when using forges that weren't his, and would often delay meetings until he was finished cleaning them. His life in the Matoran Universe was peaceful unlike most, and he never laid eyes upon a Toa until the Marendar's Rampage reached his home after the evacuation. His overall tranquil life made him something of a pacifist, leaving him conflicted about his sudden transformation. He was no fighter by any means, instead preferring to help others wherever he can. For all of his manners, Dekana also posessed a humorous streak, seeming to impulsively crack jokes or make sarcastic comments in inappropriate situations.

Dekana currently wears the Kanohi Medrona, the Great Mask of Biomechanics in the shape of a Kanohi Kadin. His blacksmithing tools became a Seismic Hammer upon his transformation.

TIKAMO

Toa of Water

As a Matoran, Tikamo serves as Captain of the Tajun Guard and right hand of Turaga Gali. She was assigned to escorting Dekana around the city during his visit, and was transformed alongside him after their encounter with the stranger.

While most Ga-Matoran were considered to be kind and compassionate, Tikamo often came off as blunt, aloof or downright rude. Her life revolved entirely around the safeguarding of the Turaga and Tajun as a whole, and had no patience for anything else, keeping visitors like Dekana at arms length due to her distrust of outsiders. Her abrasive personality often overshadowed her steadfast devotion to her duties, with few realizing how dedicated she is to keeping the city's reputation as a cosmopolitan paradise intact. For this reason, she is reluctant to relinquish her titles and venture off with Dekana as a Toa, being too attached to her home to simply up and leave.

Tikamo currently wears the Kanohi Nakiri, the Great Mask of Adaptation. Her guard-issue polearm transformed with her, becoming a Whirlpool Trident.

FERRUN

Toa of Iron

Ferrun's life wasn't as easy as most. As a Fe-Matoran, he lived his life on the run from persecution at the hands of the Brotherhood of Makuta. His own encounter with The Stranger finally brought his life as a fugitive to an end, making him a Toa.

This would not be the end of his bad luck, however. His elemental and mask powers would manifest while fighting in Arena Vulcanus, resulting in the accidental death of his opponent and his imprisonment by the Fire Tribe. His freedom was only granted through Korii's intervention.

Ferrun's experiences have left him with a cynical streak, but his people's suffering motivate him to become the best Toa he can be at whatever cost. On the flipside, this has resulted in him becoming very insecure about his status as a Toa, since the Fe-Matoran's reduced numbers left only one Toa of Iron alive before the Marendar's rampage. Ferrun now venerates the fallen hero, often finding great shame in his less-than-honorable actions. He also greets other Toa warmly, wanting nothing more than to be accepted by his newfound brothers and sisters.

Ferrun wears an unusually-designed Kanohi Pakari, the Great Mask of Strength, and carries a Protodermis Spear and Shield. While relatively simple compared to most Toa Tools, his elemental powers make them infinitely more versatile.

HOPU

Toa of Air

Originally a Le-Matoran living as a hermit in the forests and jungles beyond Bota Metru and Tesara, Hopu stumbled upon a Toa stone left for him to find by an unknown party while hunting a Muaka for food.

One of the first new Toa in centuries, his transformation did not change his planned lifestyle in any way, starkly contrasting from his brethren that appeared across the world. Refusing the destiny thrust upon him, Hopu continued living in the untamed wilds, using his newfound Air powers to simply compliment his existing abilities.

Unfortunately, his life of isolation and solitude wouldn't last. Stories reached Bota Metru and the world beyond of a Glatorian-like figure stalking the wilds of Bota Magna, threatening any who strayed into his hunting grounds. Being labelled a threat to travellers, Hopu would continuously be hounded by Glatorian mercenaries and bounty hunters, each hoping to be the one that brought the "Spirit of Bota Magna" back to civilization in chains. Most would return empty-handed, and some wouldn't return at all.

Hopu owns a variety of masks scavenged from abandoned merchant carts but primarily uses his Kanohi Akaku, the Great Mask of X-Ray Vision. He also wears a battered eyepiece, modified to help him compensate for his missing right eye.

Ever resourceful, Hopu wields a wooden hunting bow and a pair of plain steel daggers. Since none of these were made of Protodermis, they did not become Toa Tools when he transformed.

UNNAMED TOA

Toa of Ice

Presumably from the frozen city of Iconox, this Toa recieved his stone through unknown means, his prescence only being made known through mysterious activity on the streets of Iconox and New Atero.

His prescence is often indicated by the surrounding area freezing over, and the air becoming so frigid even Ko-Matoran shiver. Due to the Toa still being believed to be extinct and this being's abilities and appearance, he is often assumed to be a myth, with superstitious citizens believing the area is cursed.

It wasn't until his encounter with Ferrun that he was identified as a Toa, and the Toa of Iron's offer to unite him with his kin was flatly refused, the stranger having no interest in being a hero. In spite of the percieved threat he poses, this Toa never outwardly harms those he appears to unless provoked. His behaviour often seems to match those of a common prankster.

This toa wears the Kanohi Onweku, the Great Mask of Intangibility, and carries a Permafrost Scythe. He also wears a hooded cloak, adding to his otherworldly appearance.

TAARU

Toa of Plantlife

Originally a Bo-Matoran farmer living with his fellows in Tesara, Taaru's transformation was an unwelcome one. A pacifist by nature, he instead chose to continue farming, using his new powers to massively improve the city's agriculture. His dedication to his craft is such that none so far have persuaded him to leave Tesara, be it the mysterious being calling out to all Toa or even the Chronicler himself.

Taaru's kind and gentle personality made him popular in Tesara, never having a bad thing to say about anyone he meets and greeting any and all visitors to the city as if they were old friends. Such is his approachability that even wild Rahi seem to become slightly less aggressive in his presence. This humble demeanour should not be mistaken for timidity, however. Taaru is staunchly loyal to his people, and will not hesitate to demonstrate his power to dissuade attackers from his city. Tesara's location gives him an almost inexhaustible supply of elemental energy, allowing him to seemingly bring entire swathes of woodland to life in the hopes of keeping his kinsmen safe.

Taaru wears an exotic variant of the Kanohi Huna, the Great Mask of Invisibility, and carries a Boreal Axe, consisting of a Toa Tool mounted upon a grown wooden helve which can be extended or retracted at will using his powers over plantlife.
